What Can We Learn from Lou Gerstner and Barack Obama About Leadership Transition?
I have been searching for cases to illustrate key concepts in leadership transitions. In this article I use examples from Lou Gerstner's turnaround of IBM and President Obama's transition as president to illustrate some important do's and don't about leadership transition.
If this article catches your interest, you may want to explore the online ' Change Management' Series of Cutting-Edge Briefings designed and developed by Professor. Colin Carnall of the Cass Business School in London. This series of briefings has over 20 lectures to date with new talks added on a monthly basis, all specially commissioned by professor Carnall. The series is intended as a comprehensive briefing on all that is best in change management and leadership. My talk, ' Making M&A's - successful,' is number three on the list. Number 18 on the list is my talk, ' Leadership Transitions.' This 45 minute Webinar uses the leadership transition of President Barack Obama as the case study.
